Notre Dame University students are complaining about Obama's planned speech there, and his awarding of an honorary degree from Notre Dame.
I think the kids need to shut the fuck up.
Their entire problem is that Obama isn't strictly against abortion. They feel that, because Notre Dame has Catholic roots, he should be banned from campus, or some stupid shit like that.
This sort of binary ideological war is exactly why Americans can never agree on anything. The moment someone says something that doesn't match your personal morality, this other person is automatically branded a heretic, and so annoying more that they say should be ignored.
But the very job of the president is to maintain America, so that freedom can be had for its citizens. This means that someone would have a choice to get an abortion- it isn't the president's job to declare that abortion is wrong, and it is instead his job to make sure we don't get invaded by Commies.
Confusing ideological preference for political grandeur? You must be a student at Notre Dame.
But all this is irrelevant; the only news outlet really following the story is FAUX News. They keep reporting on it, and how strong the support is for the movement, but they rarely mention the resistance in terms of numbers. The one time they did was in regards to a prayer vigil that will be held elsewhere whilst Obama speaks. The projected support? 30-50 people.
My opinion is that FAUX News wishes to create the illusion that there is active “resistance” against the Obama administration, and that the people who do so are not semi-retarded evangelicals. This is not true at all, however; those that oppose Obama generally are capable of at least letting him speak, as was the case with the Bush administration.
The solution is clear, and only a semi-retard evangelical would consciously try to ignore it: Obama should be allowed to speak if the schools faculty OK's it (which it did), and the students should actually pay attention, instead of sticking their fingers in their ears and praying to Jesus that Satan will stop talking. Come to think of it, were this solution applied to most political problems, our country would be well on its way to recovery from the common and fatal disease Stupidasfuck Syndrome.
